Chattanooga developer, entrepreneur, and former professional basketball player Rashad Jones-Jennings recently returned to his alma mater, The Howard School, to serve as guest speaker for the school’s Senior Awards Day Celebration honoring the Class of 2026.
A proud Howard alumnus from the Class of 2002, Jones-Jennings addressed students, families, faculty, and community members during the celebration, which recognized a graduating class that earned more than $9 million in scholarships.
During his remarks, Jones-Jennings encouraged students to remain focused on three key principles: discipline, consistency, and character.
“Talent may open doors, but discipline, consistency, and character are what sustain success long after the applause fades,” Jones-Jennings shared with students.
The moment marked a full-circle experience for the Chattanooga native, who has gone on to build a successful career in business and real estate development after his collegiate and professional basketball career. Today, Jones-Jennings serves as a developer and community leader focused on housing development and economic growth initiatives throughout Chattanooga and surrounding areas.
Jones-Jennings also praised Howard’s educators and leadership team for the impact they continue to make on students.
“The accomplishments of this class speak volumes about the culture being built at Howard,” he said. “The teachers, counselors, staff, and leadership are pouring into these students every day, and it shows.”
The Howard School, home of the Hustling Tigers, continues to produce graduates who are excelling academically, athletically, and professionally while making a lasting impact throughout the Chattanooga community.
