WHAT IT IS
With funding from the National Science Foundation, CQC is launching a 12-week quantum pre-apprenticeship for working professionals with a background in technology.
The program is being developed in partnership with BuildWithin, a Washington, DC–based organization with experience building U.S. Department of Labor–aligned apprenticeship programs.
It is designed to give participants a basic understanding of the technology and a practical
understanding of where quantum technologies may (and may not) be relevant in a business
context.
WHO IT’S FOR
- Early- to mid-career professionals working in or adjacent to technology roles
(e.g., IT support, data/analytics, engineering-adjacent roles, technical operations) - Individuals who are comfortable with technical concepts, but not specialists in quantum
or advanced math or physics
Participants should be:
- Familiar with how technology systems function in a business environment
- Curious about emerging technologies
- Able to connect technical ideas to real-world problems
Participants remain in their current roles while completing the program.
HOW IT WORKS
- Duration: 12 weeks
- Format: Online, asynchronous (self-paced, completed alongside normal work responsibilities)
- Time commitment: ~3–5 hours per week
- Cohort size: 10 participants across industries
- Participant support: $2500 stipend provided for each participant
- Cost to employers: All costs covered under a National Science Foundation planning grant
Content includes:
- A grounded overview of the quantum landscape (computing, networking, sensing)
- Exposure to existing tools and platforms
- Applied examples focused on real-world business contexts
