Leadership Chattanooga is a 10-month leadership development program that allows local professionals opportunities to learn more about and engage with the community where they live and work. Leadership Chattanooga has been a launching pad for the careers and civic impact of some of Chattanooga’s most prominent professionals. We’re here to share their stories and catch up on what’s happened since they completed the program.
To celebrate Chattanooga’s Hispanic leaders during National Hispanic Heritage Month, Lily Sanchez, Communications Manager at La Paz, Chattanooga is our LCAA alumni spotlight.
Sanchez shared her insights into the Leadership Chattanooga program and its effect on our community.

Trend: When did you graduate from Leadership Chattanooga?
I graduated from Leadership Chattanooga in 2022 – the G.O.A.T. class!
Trend: Tell us a little about yourself. What do you do for fun?
I love cooking for my friends and family, so you can usually find me in the kitchen trying out a new recipe while listening to a true crime podcast.
Trend: Name one way you have impacted the community in your space.
I’ve been telling the story of La Paz for nearly five years, so my hope is that I have been a voice for community members and raised awareness about the tireless work our staff do every single day.
Trend: What drew you to the Leadership Chattanooga program when you applied?
I knew I wanted to reach outside my circle of influence and gain perspective from leaders who could diversify my way of thinking. Also the prestige of Leadership Chattanooga is well-known and I figured I would enjoy being part of something so special – I was right.
Trend: How has your career been impacted by the program?
I’ve been in nonprofit my whole career, so learning about other sectors has been an impactful experience for me overall.
Trend: You’re a highly successful contributor to the Chattanooga community. What practices do you follow that help you achieve success?
Achieving success to me means having my values align with what I spend my time doing. Making sure I am somewhere I feel like I belong helps me be the best version of myself and, in turn, be successful.
Trend: What advice would you give someone who is looking for ways to become more connected to the community?
Follow the organizations who are doing the community work you’d like to be involved with, and let them know you want to champion their cause. Show up, and you’ll be met with gratitude and trust to build upon those connections.
