As senior counsel, Vessels advises health care providers, including hospitals, physician groups, and solo practitioners, as well as nonprofit organizations, on complex regulatory and compliance matters. Her practice includes HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 compliance, cybersecurity, breach and incident response, telemedicine, physician employment and compensation, professional services and vendor agreements, corporate governance, and fraud and abuse matters, including Stark and Anti-Kickback compliance. Prior to joining Chambliss, Vessels spent several years working in-house for health care providers, advising on a wide range of legal, compliance, privacy, and operational matters.
Vessels is actively involved in several professional organizations, including the Health Care Compliance Association, American Health Law Association, and American Telemedicine Association. She is also a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
Vessels holds the Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC), and Certified in Healthcare Research Compliance (CHRC) credentials. She earned her Juris Doctor from The George Washington University Law School and her Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is licensed to practice in Tennessee and New York.
