Step 1: Are You a Good Fit?

To join our INCubator program, your business should demonstrate scalability and innovation. We specialize in supporting businesses in industries such as advanced manufacturing (e.g., robotics, aerospace, 3D printing, and consumer goods), technology (e.g., software, health and wellness tech, fintech, edtech, and renewable energy), and professional and support services (e.g., creative media, engineering, and logistics). Whether your focus is digital platforms, e-commerce, or logistics, we seek businesses poised for growth and impact.

If your company has been in business for 1–5 years and is generating revenue, we’re excited to help you scale—but be prepared to submit critical documents, such as a cash flow sheet, as part of the application process.

 

Not quite there yet? If you’re still in the ideation or prototyping phase, you may be a better fit for INC Connect—our new makerspace initiative designed for early-stage product-based businesses. 

Step 2: Are You Ready to Commit?

Our three-year INCubator program is designed to help you scale your business and create jobs in the Greater Chattanooga region. Success in the program requires a strong commitment to growth, including attendance at a minimum of four educational events per year for networking and business development. Regular check-ins with the Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC) will help keep your progress on track. Additionally, our subsidized rent model gradually increases each year, preparing you for market rates after graduation and ensuring a smooth transition to independence.

The Application Process

Applying to the INCubator program is a multi-step process designed to ensure a strong match for both you and our program. Start by submitting your application, business plan, cash flow statement, and an estimate of your space requirements, including square footage and whether you need office or manufacturing space. Applications are reviewed every Friday by our director. If your application meets our criteria, it will be forwarded to a TSBDC specialist for additional approval. Upon approval, you’ll be invited to pitch your business to our 5&5 Committee, which provides valuable feedback and determines if you’ll move forward in the program. Results and feedback are provided the following Friday. Please note that all communication regarding application progress is sent on Fridays.

If you’re applying for INC Connect, our early-stage makerspace initiative, the process is slightly simpler. You are only required to submit the INC Application and your business plan—no cash flow statement needed. After review, eligible applicants will also pitch to the 5&5 Committee before joining the program.

Even if you’re not a fit for either program right now, we encourage you to take advantage of our free monthly educational events. These events are open to the public and offer valuable learning and networking opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs.
