On Wednesday, the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce held its quarterly DEI forum, presented by BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee. The virtual forum featured a fireside chat with April Lomax, Director of Workforce Diversity, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee and Lorne Steedley, Vice President of Diversity and Inclusive Growth, Chattanooga Chamber.
The conversation centered on BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee’s successful efforts on recruitment, retention and development of workers with disabilities. It also highlighted the value of hiring workers with physical disabilities as well as neurodiverse workers.
During the discussion, Lomax explored best practices in place at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee to support their neurodiverse workers — specifically referring to workers with ADHD, autism or other neurological differences. She also shared tips to attract great talent from these communities. The forum closed with a Q&A session moderated by Darian Scott, Director, Talent and Economic Inclusion, Chattanooga Chamber.
The Chattanooga Chamber will host the Women’s Unity Breakfast Presented by BlueCross BlueShield of Tennesse on October 27. Tickets and information about this upcoming DEI event are available through Eventbrite, here.
