Russell D. Moorehead, PE, a Vice President with full-service consulting firm Croy Engineering and head of its Chattanooga office, was recently presented with the Jack W. Anderson Engineering Leadership Award by the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE) during the Chattanooga Engineers Week Awards Banquet. This award is presented to an individual who has made outstanding professional contributions to the engineering profession, has demonstrated leadership within their company and/or the professional societies, as well as long-standing service to the community at-large.
Moorehead joined Croy in January of 2019 to lead and support the expansion of Croy’s efforts into the Tennessee market. Since then, he has been an integral part of the firm’s success, helping the firm deliver significant infrastructure improvement projects across the state, such as the 2,000-acre McDonald Farm site planning and development project in Hamilton County.
“We are excited to celebrate with Russell, who is truly deserving of this prestigious award,” said Croy’s CEO, Gregory D. Teague, PE. “Russell is an excellent example of leadership both inside and outside of our organization, and we are grateful to have him as a part of our Croy team.”
Over the span of his nearly four-decade career, Moorehead has also worked on several notable projects in the greater Chattanooga area, including a site improvement plan for Nokian Tyres, civil site improvements for the Amazon Distribution Facility, and construction plans for the La-Z-Boy Manufacturing Facility.
Throughout his career, Moorehead has been involved in several professional societies, including the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the American Council of Engineering Companies of Tennessee (ACEC Tennessee), ACEC Southeast Tennessee, and the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE). He served as the ASCE Tennessee Section Chattanooga Branch President, and later served as the ASCE Tennessee Section President. He currently serves as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for ACEC Tennessee. Moorehead is also a 2014 graduate of Leadership Chattanooga, a program of the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce, with which he has remained a member.
In his community, Moorehead serves as the Treasurer of the Suck Creek Mountain Volunteer Fire Department. As a testament to his quick willingness to help others in need, in 2017, he volunteered just outside of Beaumont, Texas to support the relief efforts towards the devastation experienced just after Hurricane Harvey.
