Recipients include four nonprofit organizations across Tennessee American Water
The American Water Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization established by American Water, the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S., recently announced four organizations were awarded a Water and Environment grant, supporting communities served by Tennessee American Water.
“We are pleased that the American Water Charitable Foundation has selected four local organizations in our community for the 2023 Water & Environment grants,” said president of Tennessee American Water Grant Evitts. “This funding helps strengthen the positive impact these diverse projects are having in our community.”
The Water and Environment grant is part of the American Water Charitable Foundation’s Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, focusing on three pillars of giving: Water, People and Communities. Below is a list of grantees in Tennessee.
- WaterWays has been awarded $27,800 for “the creek in Brainerd High School’s backyard” watershed protection & education partnership.
- Hope for the Inner City has been awarded $15,289 for their Grow Hope Urban Farm providing locally grown fresh produce to East Chattanoogans.
- YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga has been awarded $10,000 for the YMCA Safe & Swim for Allmaking water safety & swimming accessible for underrepresented and underserved populations.
- Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center has been awarded $16,000 for restoring paddling access to Lookout Creek in Chattanooga at Reflection Riding, which has the only public access point.
“The American Water Charitable Foundation is pleased to partner with eligible nonprofit organizations across Tennessee American Water,” said Carrie Williams, president, American Water Charitable Foundation. “Funding for the Water and Environment grants focus on clean water, conservation, environmental education, climate variability, and water-based recreation projects.”
