Job Description
The Accounting Manager will assist the VP of Finance & Operations with accounts receivable, accounts payable,
employee benefits and compensation, and financial reporting for both companies, as well as a range of general
operational duties that keep our two companies running smoothly. The successful candidate must be a critical
thinker, have excellent attention to detail, be highly organized and disciplined in managing their time, and the
ability to work independently on a regular basis, as well as proficiency in accounting software, customer
relationship management (CRM) software, and possess intermediate MS Excel skills.
Essential Functions:
- Perform general accounting and payroll functions, maintain accurate and complete accounting records
- and other related duties in the daily administration of the finance department in accordance with
- Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Oversee the posting and maintenance of general ledger accounts, payroll transactions, accounts payable, and general ledger adjustments.
- Perform month-end close procedures and prepare monthly financial statements including balance sheet,
income statement, and actual to budget variance analysis. - Perform accounts payable duties such as verifying invoices for payment, ensuring that disbursements are made accurately and timely.
- Perform accounts receivable duties such as preparation of monthly statements, monthly invoicing,
receivables aging, monitoring delinquent accounts and allocating revenue. - Maintain investor database and correspondence necessary to maintain investor relations.
- Prepare and process employee payroll and withholding.
- Ensure accurate recordkeeping of employee benefits and remittance to appropriate agencies.
- Maintain human resource records in compliance with federal and state mandated standards.
- Assist external auditors with research, analysis, and preparation of supporting schedules for annual audit.
- Provide support such as schedules, data, information, etc. for the annual budget process and produce
final combined budget documents. - Provide necessary information to departmental directors to facilitate the performance appraisal process.
- Provide research, analysis, and problem-solving assistance to employees regarding questions relating to
payroll, financial reports, and database issues. - Other duties as assigned by the CEO or VP, Finance & Operations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; Master’s degree a plus
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in nonprofit or corporate accounting or an equivalent
combination of education and experience - Highly proficient in Excel and Sage Intacct accounting software or similar
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to manage a team and meet deadlines
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of GAAP
